Open Source License
The Pidgeon Core engine and CLI are free, open source software.
Mozilla Public License 2.0
Pidgeon.Core and the Pidgeon CLI are licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 (MPL 2.0). MPL 2.0 is a weak copyleft license that balances openness with practical usability for businesses.
File-level copyleft
Copyleft applies at the file level, not the project level. If you modify a file that is licensed under MPL 2.0, you must make your modified version of that file available under MPL 2.0. Files you create separately and link against the MPL code do not need to be open-sourced.
Use in proprietary projects
You can use Pidgeon.Core in proprietary software. You can build commercial products on top of it without opening your own code — as long as you do not modify the MPL-licensed files themselves. If you do modify them, share your modifications.
Distribution
If you distribute software that includes MPL 2.0 code, you must include a copy of the MPL 2.0 license and make the MPL-licensed source code available to recipients. The full license text is available on GitHub.
